Nutrition Aide

The purpose of the Nutrition Aide is to coordinate daily food service for children and staff in a safe and sanitary environment.


Job Responsibilities

Ensre the delivery of prepared food from caterer as outlined in the contractual agreement. 

Move food into warmers

Distribute food in a manner appropriate to facilitate family style dining in accordance with CACFP requirements (Child and Adult Care Food Program)

Maintain kitchen in compliance with local and state health and sanitation regulations.  Store food and canned goods; rack dishes and load dishwasher

Introduce healthy eating and other food related principles in the classroom a minimum of 3 times per school year (November, January, March)

Monitor inventory of food service small wares and paper supplies and inform Center Manager

Ensure that food service equipment necessary for a healthy and sanitary environment is operational.  Place appropriate work orders when necessary

Job Requirements

Knowledge of CACFP policies and procedures.  Knowledge of health and sanitation requirements

Ability to calculate meal counts and communicate with Center Manager and caterer

Ability to problem solve and correctly facilitate food distribution to classrooms

Successful completion of SafeServ certification within 3 to 6 months of hire

Must obtain computer skills at a beginning level withn 3 months of employment

Must have own transportation to travel between centers, sometimes with little or no notice

Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen desired

Education Requirements

High school graduate or GED/HiSet required
