FAMILY ADVOCATE


The purpose of this position is to assist families with children enrolled in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program to match community resources with identified needs and achieve goals established on the Family Partnership Agreement.


Job Responsibilities
Effectively manage assigned caseload by ensuring that all families are offered an opportunity to participate in a Family Partnership Agreement, complete a Family Assessment and timely resources and referrals are offered as a result of identified needs and goals of parents and/or guardians during this process
Effectively develop, maintain and monitor record keeping through accurate documentation in Family Files and ChildPlus by auditing of reports monthly, documenting all contact with families and follow-up on referrals and resources offered to parents and/or guardians
Ensure that all vacancies are filled within 30 days and a viable wait-list is maintained in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards
Ensure that funded enrollment is met on the 1st day of the Program Year through the recruitment and completion of applications of eligible families with children ages 0-5 into the Head Start/Early Head Start Program including children with disabilities and to advocate and provide support to children and families with diverse backgrounds through home visits, strengthening family's curriculum, promote parent involvement, conduct Level 1 Staffings, 100 Neediest Cases and implement parent education initiative


Job Requirements
Knowledge of resources within the community, family values, beliefs, traditions, cultural influences, make-up and circumstances
Usage of appropriate verbal and non-verbal messages and listening skills
Ability to type at least 20 words per minute
Ability to problem solve and effectively communicate both verbally and written
Ability to multi-task, manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and ability to relate well and coordinate with people from diverse backgrounds


Education Requirements
Bachelor degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or Sociology
