Benefits Specialist

The purpose of this position is to assist with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability and the 403(b) plan.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollment in the HRIS system to provide employees with accurate eligibility information

Liaison between 3rd party Administrators and the Organization

Participates in the deliverance of new hire orientation

Performs bi-weekly quality checks of benefits related data

Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes

Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and may determine eligibility

Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life change events

Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries

Processes and administers all leave of absence requests and disability paperwork; to include, medical, personal disability and FMLA

Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities

Responds to 403(b) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages annual catch-up contribution enrollment

Leads the open enrollment process

Participates in the training of benefit related matters to managers and employees as needed

Provides necessary reports for allocating/billing charges

Handles Worker's Compensation related issues

Job Requirements  

Proficient with MS Office products, particularly advanced skill level in Excel

Team worker with initiative and flexibility

Ability to work with a diverse group of peers and clients and provide excellent and consistent customer service

HR and Benefits expertise with the ability to answer specific questions related to position function

Effective communication skills and relationship management

Ability to show empathy and compassion

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and five years of experience working in Benefits Administration

Preferred Education and Experience

Master's degree in Human Resources or related field of study with 3 years in Benefits Administration

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential

World at Work Certification
