Sr. Human Resources Generalist

Purpose: This individual will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

Job Responsibilities

Ensures planning, monitoring and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors

Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducts investigations; maintains records; represents the organization at hearings

Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing and interviewing program; counsel managers on candidate selection; conduct and analyze exit interviews; and recommend changes

Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resources policies and procedures

Manage Head Start filing system while maintaining HS Performance Standards

Work with Head Start management staff to ensure educational compliance of all staff

Maintain human resource staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results

Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions


Ability to meet deadlines, outcomes and objectives; high attention to detail

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels of staff and management, outside officials and agencies, and the public, expressing ideas and instructions clearly and concisely

Ability to compile and analyze complex information and research and develop solutions to complex issues

Demonstrate skills critical for managerial success including leadership, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgement, and highly developed personal analytical and communication skills

Minimum five to seven years of relevant practitioner experience across all HR disciplines, including employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development

Prior experience working with a non-profit community services corporation a plus

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field or Master's degree in HRMG with 5 years relevant practitioner experience. PHR/SPHR certification preferred
